Shahid Afridi Launches Welfare Website in Pakistan

Shahid Afridi, the maverick Pakistan all-rounder, has often taken part in charity events with his former skipper Imran Khan.

Flamboyant Shahid Afridi has now turned to charity, officially. The mercurial Pakistani all-rounder has launched his welfare website to extend help to down-trodden people in his country. (Read: Afridi meets former Pakistan President Musharraf)

The Shahid Afridi Foundation website, http://ift.tt/1s7BEzH, was launched officially at a Karachi hotel on Wednesday. Afridi, who has captained Pakistan and forever remains keen to lead again, has often participated in charity events organized by his former skipper Imran Khan. He is also one of the faces of Imran's national T20 league.

Talking to media, Afridi said that he wanted to serve people through welfare and charity work in the country. "I want to continue my work in the four provinces of the country with the central platform of Shahid Afridi Foundation," he said.

"I will require full collaboration of the public to continue this welfare work," Afridi added. Known for his no-holds-barred comments, Afridi has often been at the wrong end of the Pakistan cricket establishment, but there is no denying that the 34-year-old remains his country's most charismatic cricketer.
