Royal Challengers Bangalore have lost three games on the trot and are placed fifth in the points table as teams return to India for the second half of the tournament.
Royal Challengers Bangalore are going through an unexpected slump in the Indian Premier League . A team reputed for their batting prowess, RCB have lost three games on the trot and have recorded the lowest total of this year's edition which also is their all-time lowest in the tournament. Even as they sit just outside the top-four in the points table, Bangalore need to iron out a few follies in their bid to land their first ever IPL title. Bangalore's Rs 14-crore recruit Yuvraj Singh though is upbeat despite the recent run of form. (KXIP, the comprehensive winners of UAE )
"We started this year's IPL on a right note with two consecutive wins. By the end of the first leg of the tournament, though, we somehow couldn't carry forward that initiative," he wrote in his column for a national daily. (Why Chris Gayle is the King of Twenty20 )
Despite having batting stalwarts like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Yuvraj, Bangalore were humiliated by Rajasthan, when they were bowled out for 70. Acknowledging that poor performance and the two losses that followed, Yuvraj wrote,"We had a terrible game against the Rajasthan Royals and in two others, we didn't play the crucial moments well."
With the tournament now moving back to India, it could give a lot of teams an opportunity to start afresh. Yuvraj believes it is a good time to take the positives from the tournament so far.
"While packing our bags for India, we need to leave all the excess baggage and take the positives back home. Before getting back to Bangalore, we have two days to recharge our batteries and channelise our energies. Hopefully, the familiar surroundings of our home ground can make this recovery a little easier," he wrote.
"We have the right setup, right players, great support staff and a very sporting franchise," he added.
Royal Challengers Bangalore play their first game in India at home at the Chinnaswamy stadium against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 4.
