It is not yet clear whether BCCI will appoint a fresh probe panel and even if it formed, it is not certain that board's working committee can stop N Srinivasan from influencing either its formation or its working and 'terms of reference'.
Despite the talk of possible revolt within the board, it should be mentioned that out of 24 working committee members, 10-odd are office bearers. And they could help Srinivasan sail smoothly if he chairs the meeting.
Former BCCI treasurer and reigning Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) president Ajay Shirke told Times Now: "There are senior people in the board who have tremendous legal acumen like Mr (Arun) Jaitley. If any significant observation is made in the court order, I don't think it will pass the watchful eyes of Mr Jaitley."
Shirke added: "The difference between Niranjan Shah (who demanded the forming of fresh probe panel) and myself is that Mr Shah continues to attend various board meetings in the capacity as vice-president and representative of Saurashtra Cricket Association. The MCA doesn't sit in any working committee meeting and hence we are not privy to any ongoing happenings within the board. Given the seriousness of the issue and credibility of the board (at stake), I'm sure the senior people will act in the best interest of the board and restore its credibility in the public."
