Monty Panesar's discipline issues continue as he was dropped by his County team Essex for failing to attend a team meeting. Panesar was in the Essex squad for the four-day match against Glamorgan at Chelmsford. (Panesar Invited Blonde Lady to Room: Report)
According to a report in the Daily Mail, Panesar was left out when he failed to turn up for a team meeting after 'forgetting' that it had been scheduled.
Essex have chosen to play down the incident but Panesar has had a series of disciplinary issues. Panesar was caught urinating on a bouncer in Brighton last year. He received a suspended ban for 'potentially threatening and intimidating' behaviour in September. Last season, Sussex had sacked the 32-year-old left-arm spinner also on disciplinary grounds.
The latest round of trouble could cost Panesar a berth in the Test squad for the series against Sri Lanka. Post Graeme Swann's retirement, Panesar remains the only England specialist Test spinner, but his temperament may not amuse the selectors. Moeen Ali or Samit Patel may pip Panesar to the Test squad.
