Chennai Super Kings ended Mumbai Indians 10-match unbeaten run in the Indian Premier League at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday.
Chennai Super Kings have won eight and lost nine out of 17 contested vs Mumbai Indians. Overall, Chennai have won seven and lost two out of nine contested in IPL 2014. Mumbai, who had lost all their five matches in the first leg at United Arab Emirates, have won two and lost six out of eight played in this season's IPL.
Wankhede had always been Mumbai's happy hunting ground. They scored 10 consecutive wins between April 9, 2013 and May 6, 2014. But Saturday saw the end of a dream run in spite of Mumbai lad Ambati Rayudu's 59 off 43 balls. It was Rayudu's first fifty in IPL 2014 and ninth overall in the league.
Rayudu, with 209 runs in eight matches, is the top run-scorer for Mumbai Indians this season. Kieron Pollard (203) and Rohit Sharma (201) are two other batsmen to score 200-plus runs for Mumbai this year.
Pollard's failure against Chennai cost the home team dear. The burly West Indian, playing in his 200th innings, scored his eighth duck in Twenty20. Pollard, who was involved in a bitter brawl with Mitchell Starc of Bangalore earlier this week, posted his second golden duck in the IPL -- the first was against Deccan Chargers at Hyderabad on April 24, 2011.
