New Delhi, March 8: Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh has always been criticised over his mild attitude. However, his sudden change and more aggressive approach towards the opposition party leaders shocked and impressed many. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its leader Arun Jaitley might be among them who have been facing the wrath of the changed PM.
Speaking in the Parliament on Friday, March 8, Manmohan Singh chided, "When men (opposition party leaders) are full of envy they disparage everything, whether it be good or bad."
Next he directly targeted Mr Jaitley who earlier had slammed the UPA government over growth of the country. The PM said, "Mr Jaitley should be more objective in assessing work of UPA government whether agriculture, growth rate or industrialisation as the record of the UPA speaks for itself and we don't have to go in more details."
Comparing growth during NDA's tenure (1998-2004) and UPA's regime, the PM said, "Growth rate in the country has been highest since the UPA came to power and it is only in 2012-13 that growth rate will be 5%."
Overruling all allegations and hullabaloos of the opposition parties, Manmohan Singh asserted that growth growth will bounce back and taunted Mr Jaitley and other while saying, "...If leader of opposition, colleagues reflect calmly they will conclude that the path we have chosen is the right path."
Recently, the PM was at his rarest best, perhaps first time after the 2008 debate on the Indo-US nuclear deal while slamming the opposition in Parliament. What was even good to see that he countered the opposition through facts and figures and not vague talks. This is how the chief political executive is expected to act and not just stand there as a meek representation of some invisible power centre.
Manmohan Singh's sudden change in attitude has been noticed following BJP leader Narendra Modi's statement where the latter criticised the former calling him a "night watchman".
