In what will be a massive relief for the Pakistan camp ahead of the World Cup, the International Cricket Council has cleared Saeed Ajmal to bowl. This after tests on his re-worked action were deemed legal. Bangladesh's Sohag Gazi was also allowed to bowl once again after being suspended for a faulty action.
In a release on Saturday, ICC said that the bowling actions of Ajmal and Gazi, following remedial work and retests, were cleared and that they can now bowl in international cricket. With just a week left for the World Cup, this will come as a big boost for both teams, especially Pakistan as Ajmal is one of the most feared spin bowlers.
Ajmal's action was reported during the Galle Test against Sri Lanka in August 2014. It was deemed as illegal after an assessment which found his elbow extension was at 42 degrees, well over the permissible limit of 15 degrees.
