Chawla removes Uthappa, Pune 4 down

NEW DELHI: Pune Warriors India struggled as they lost wickets at regular intervals against Kings XI Punjab in the 6th match of the IPL 6 at Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium in Pune.

Scorecard

Kings XI Punjab pacers Praveen Kumar and Azhar Mahmood struck to give Pune Warriors early jolts. Praveen struck in the first of the innings to give Punjab first breakthrough by dismissing Pandey for nought.

Mahmood removed Tirumalasetti Suman to leave Pune struggling at 21/2 in five overs after their skipper Angelo Mathews opted to bat in their second match of the tournament.

Pune dealt a big blow as Yuvraj Singh is out with back strain and T Suman replaced him.

Pune Warriors would be hoping for a better batting performance after suffering a disappointing 22-run loss in a low scoring game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Pune's bowling attack looked impressive with a three-pronged pace attack comprising Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ashok Dinda and skipper Angelo Matthews.

On the other hand, Kings XI Punjab will look to start their campaign on a winning note.

Kings XI Punjab have never won their opening game in the previous five editions of the IPL and the Adam Gilchrist-led side would be keen to change it this year.

Teams:

Pune Warriors: Robin Uthappa, Manish Pandey, Marlon Samuels, Tirumalasetti Suman, Ross Taylor, Abhishek Nayar, Angelo Mathews, Mitchell Marsh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rahul Sharma, Ashok Dinda

Kings XI Punjab: Adam Gilchrist, Mandeep Singh, David Hussey, Azhar Mahmood, Gurkeerat Singh, Manan Vohra, Rajagopal Sathish, Piyush Chawla, Parvinder Awana, Praveen Kumar, Ryan Harris
