Australian cricketers, led by 24-year-old Ryan Carters, will be 'batting for change' in the upcoming season of the Big Bash League.

Batting for Change is an initiative by Carters, that brings together the excitement of T20 cricket in Australia and the commitment to supporting the education of economically disadvantaged young people.

Carters, who plays for Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League, hopes to raise $ 66,666 in the next 40 days to support university education of 500 young women living in poverty in Mumbai.

How they raise money

Carters has recruited the likes of Brad Haddin, Steve Smith, Moises Henriques and Steve O'Keefe to his campaign in which he'll ask Sixers fans and partners to pledge money for every six the players of his team hit this season.

"Every six we hit will hopefully raise $1000 or maybe $2000 for this charity and by the end of the season we can make a big difference to these young women's lives," Carters said, as reported by internationalcrickethall.com.
