Royal Challengers Bangalore became the third team to play a 100 Indian Premier League matches when they hosted Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday. The four-wicket win scripted by South African AB De Villiers made the moment extra-special.
RCB have been one of the most high-profile teams in the competition. Apart from the Vijay Mallya-owned team, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have also played over a 100 games. (AB de Villiers, a True RCB Champion )
Until Sunday , MS Dhoni-led Chennai played 105 and Mumbai have taken part in 101 matches. While Chennai have won the IPL twice, Mumbai are the defending champions. RCB have never won the competition and are currently fourth in the table with six points from six matches.
Although skipper Virat Kohli made his third duck in IPL 2014, it was the brilliance of De Villiers that helped RCB chase down Sunrisers 155/6 in a thrilling last-over finish. RCB's 158 for six is their first total of 150 or more in the IPL 2014. (AB de Villiers is the best, says Virat Kohli )
So far, in head-to-heads, Bangalore have won two and lost one (one-over eliminator) versus the Hyderabad team in IPL. Sunday's 155 for six was Sunrisers third total of 150 or more in IPL 2014. Sunrisers' highest in this edition has been 184 for one versus Delhi Daredevils in Dubai on April 25. (Related: AB is a 'Freak', says teammate Harshal Patel )
