Kevin Pietersen's Delhi Daredevils bore the brunt of some massive hitting from Yuvraj Singh. The losing skipper though felt it wasn't shoddy bowling but 'superstar' Yuvraj's fiery batting that cost Delhi Daredevils the match.
He may have been on the losing side on Tuesday, but Delhi Daredevils' skipper Kevin Pietersen found it hard to stop praising Yuvraj Singh for his ferocious 29-ball unbeaten knock of 68. The Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman smashed nine sixes to help his side to a 16-run win.
Pietersen felt his team - already out of contention for the playoffs - did not perform shabbily but Yuvraj stole the show with his power-hitting. "I can tell you something for free. That man over there (Yuvraj) batted like an absolute superstar," he said at the post-match presentation. "He has proven a lot of people wrong."
Pietersen's bowlers were hammered to all parts of the ground by Yuvraj Singh who had played a similar knock against Rajasthan just two days ago. While Bangalore had lost that match despite dominating for most parts, Delhi had no such luck. "We have to build for next season, there's an unrealistic chance of making the playoff. Yuvraj was just unbelievable. I'm always smiling," said Pietersen whose team have now lost eight of their ten matches.
Thanks to Yuvraj's brutal carnage, however, Bangalore continue to have an outside chance of making it to the IPL playoffs. With four wins and six loses, the team is currently placed sixth with only the top-four sides eligible to advance to the play-offs.
