Indian Premier League 2014: Mitchell Starc Still Bitter After Kieron Pollard Brawl

Royal Challengers Bangalore fast bowler Mitchell Starc and Mumbai Indians' all-rounder Kieron Pollard were involved in an ugly Indian Premier League 2014 spat. Critics have strongly slammed the ugly episode.

Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc, who is playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore this season, said he had no time to sort out his differences with West Indian and Mumbai Indians all-rounder Kieron Pollard, after they were involved in an ugly on-field incident in the course of the Indian Premier League 2014.

Starc, who has been the most successful bowler for the Royal Challengers, with 13 wickets from 10 games, said Pollard has been guilty of boorish behaviour in the past, and he did not want to spend any time making up.

"Kieron's done that a lot in the past and I don't think it's worth talking about," Starc told the Times of India "No, I've got no time for Pollard and I haven't talked to him at all."

In hindsight, it appeared both men were guilty of breaching the codes that govern the gentleman's game, when during the Mumbai Indians against Royal Challengers game at the Wankhede Stadium, Pollard backed away to a Starc delivery, who then threw the ball at him. Pollard was not amused and made as if to fling the bat at the bowler, inviting heated words in the middle.

While Pollard was fined 75 per cent of his match fee, Starc was docked 50 per cent . Many felt the punishment was too lenient. However, Starc said it happened in the heat of the moment and he would never be involved in such a fracas again.

"That sort of situation would probably warrant yellow and red cards if it ever does come to that. But I'm definitely staying out of that sort of thing anyway. It's not in my nature to get involved in that sort of stuff. It was a heat-of-the-moment thing," he said. (Also read: Courtney Walsh calls for controlled aggression )

This is not the first time a heated exchange between players has happened in the history of the Indian Premier League. Last year, there was a bitter argument between RCB skipper Virat Kohli and Kolkata Knight Riders Gautam Gambhir, which was highly talked about.
