Happy Birthday Kieron Pollard: His Top 5 knocks in the Indian Premier League

The big man Kieron Pollard celebrated turned 27th on May 12th. Here is a look at some of his best performances in the Indian Premier League.

Dashing West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard turned 27 on May 12. On the occasion of his birthday let's take a trip down memory lane and see some of his best performances Mumbai Indians franchise in the Indian Premiere League since 2010:

33 off 13 balls and 3/17 vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (Mumbai, 1st Semi-Final, 2010) - Walking in at the score reading 151 / 5, with just two overs to go, Pollard had no time to have a look in. In a brutal assault on Vinay Kumar in the 19th and Dale Steyn in the final over, Pollard finished with 33 not out of just 13 balls. He also contributed with the ball with wickets of Robin Utthappa, Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey to end up with figures of 3 / 17 in his four overs. He also earned the Man of the Match award for the same.

64 off 33 balls and 4/44 vs Rajasthan Royals (Mumbai, 2012) - After winning the toss and batting first, Mumbai were in a spot of bother at 68/3 at the end of the 9th over. Pollard had time on his hands and he did not disappoint. With six fours and four sixes, he was dismissed in the 17th over for 64 of just 33 balls as Mumbai finished with a commanding 197 on the board. He also chipped in with the ball with figures of 4/44 in his four overs to help restrict the Royals to 170 and earn himself the Man of the Match award.

60 off 32 balls and 1/34 vs Chennai Super Kings (2013 Finals, Kolkata) - It was a repeat of the 2010 final when Mumbai took on the Chennai Super Kings at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Batting first, Mumbai were down in the dumps at 52/4 before Pollard walked in to play troubleshooter. He launched a remarkable assault on the CSK bowlers in the final 10 overs and with seven fours and three sixes, ended with an unbeaten 60 off 32 balls as Mumbai posted 148/9 in their 20 overs. He also chipped in with a wicket as Mumbai won the final by 23 runs. Pollard also won the player of the match award for his contribution with both bat and ball.

66 off 27 balls vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (Mumbai, 2013) - This would arguably be Pollard's best knock in the IPL. Walking in at 99/3 chasing a steep score of 179 and with just over six overs left, it was upto him to take Mumbai over the line. Pollard got stuck into the Hyderabad bowlers scoring 50 runs in just two overs that included a 29 run over of Thisara Perera and a 21 run over of Amit Mishra to follow. A total of eight sixes in 27 balls and Pollard finished the game with nine balls to spare. He made 66 not out and fittingly finished the game with a six as well! He was also awarded the player of the match for the carnage he caused.

78 off 48 balls vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (Dubai, 2014) - The Mumbai Indians had got off to the most disastrous start to a season losing four games on a trot. A lot of the blame fell on Pollard who had not contributed much with the bat till then. At a time when Mumbai were struggling yet again at 32/3, Pollard took charge and almost guided Mumbai over the line. With three fours and six sixes, Pollard made a whirlwind 78 of just 48 balls, but was unfortunately dismissed in the last over as Mumbai fell short by 15 runs.
