Bangladesh coach Shane Jurgensen resigns: Report

After a string of poor performances, Shane Jurgensen's resignation as Bangladesh coach was expected.

After Sri Lanka, Bangladesh are facing a coach crisis. Shane Jurgensen, the 38-year-old Aussie, who took charge as Bangladesh's full-time coach in February 2013, has resigned according to reports quoting cricket Board sources.

Jurgensen has submitted his resignation and Bangladesh Cricket Board officials, according to sources, have been looking for a replacement for some time. Jurgensen has quit well ahead of his two-year contract until 2015 World Cup. After Bangladesh's poor performance in the Asia Cup and the ICC World Twenty20, Jurgensen was under pressure to quit.

Bangladesh, who hosted both the Asia Cup and the World Twenty20, suffered blows from teams ranked much below them. In Asia Cup, they lost to Afghanistan and in the T20 World Cup, they were shocked by Hong Kong in the first round.

The BCB is expected to find a coach ahead of the three-match ODI series against India in June.
