Sushant Singh Rajput as lead actor in biopic on Mahendra Singh Dhoni: reports

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has given his go-ahead for the film on his life, according to reports.

A biopic on India cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is likely to feature actor Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role. According to media reports, filmmaker Neeraj Pandey is directing the as-yet-unnamed movie and has managed to sign the rising Bollywood actor to play Dhoni. The 33-year-old Dhoni has of course, given the go ahead for the film, say sources. (Click here for latest on ICC World Twenty20 )

It is learnt that Rajput was recently in Ranchi - Dhoni's hometown - and is believed to have begun preparing for the role which may well be his biggest challenge yet.

Dhoni's rise to fame has been a tale of epic proportions. One of three children, his parents originally hail from Almora district in Uttarakhand although Dhoni was born in Ranchi. His father - Pan Singh - was employed with a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) in a junior position.

From the streets of Ranchi to the summit of international cricket, Dhoni has remained humble throughout and to portray this successfully on the 70mm screen, Rajput will now have to produce one of his best works.
