South African captain Faf du Plessis was fined 40 percent of his match-fee for slow over-rate in his team's ICC World Twenty20 Group 1 match against New Zealand at Chittagong on Monday. Other team members were asked to pay 20 percent fines.
South Africa have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 Group 1 encounter against New Zealand at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chittagong on Monday.
Javagal Srinath of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the fines after Faf du Plessis' side was ruled to be two overs short of its target when time allowances were taken into consideration.
In accordance with the regulations of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel governing minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for each over that their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.
While Du Plessis was fined 40 per cent of his match fee, other members of his team were asked to pay 20 per cent fines. Du Plessis faces a one-match suspension if he is found guilty of even a minor over-rate offence in T20Is over the 12 next months.
