Chathuranga de Silva (17) failed to withstand the Afghani bowling as he was caught by Mirwais Ashraf off the bowling of Dawlat Zadran after Lanka lost Kumar Sangakkara and Dinesh Chandimal in quick succession.
Hamza Hotak struck first to break the 74-run partnership between the duo when he scalped Chandimal (26) before Sangakkara (76) was run out.
Sangakkara hit 6 boundaries and a single six in his innings that saw him reach his 85th ODI half-century and gave Sri Lanka some respite after Mirwais Ashraf dismissed Mahela Jayawardene.
Ashraf forced Jayawardene (14) to play a loose shot that was taken comfortably at mid-on by skipper Mohammad Nabi.
Earlier, Shapoor Zadran and Mirwais Ashraf rattled Sri Lanka by dismissing Lahiru Thirimanne and Kusal Perera respectively.
Sri Lankan openers had trouble negotiating Afghanistan bowlers as they faced 5.4 overs to post only 14 on the board after skipper Angelo Mathews won the toss and opted to bat.

Afghanistan brought back Noor Ali Zadran and Dawlat Zadran for Karim Sadiq and Hamid Hassan from the line-up.
