2nd Test: Pujara hits ton after Kohli falls

NEW DELHI: Cheteshwar Pujara reached his fifth Test century soon after the dismissal of Virat Kohli on the second day of Sachin Tendulkar's last Test at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday.

Scorecard | Sachin Tendulkar Timeline

This is Pujara's second consecutive Test hundred at the Wankhede Stadium.

Shane Shillingford had Kohli caught by captain Darren Sammy at first slip.

Kohli hit five fours in his 57-run knock and added 94 runs with Pujara for the fourth wicket.

Kohli brought up his seventh Test fifty off 53 balls as India crossed the 300-run mark after lunch.

The second session started with Pujara and Kohli resuming the Indian first innings.

Pujara and Kohli stretched the Indian lead to 100 runs at the end of the first session. Pujara looked rock solid as ever and survived a close call a few overs before lunch. India scored 125 runs in the session.

West Indies captain Darren Sammy took a good catch at first slip to dismiss Sachin Tendulkar for 74 runs off Narsingh Deonarine.

Deonarine bowled a flatter delivery outside off and Tendulkar tried to cut it fine, but it bounced extra and the thick edge went quickly towards Sammy at first slip, who took a good catch in front of his face as Tendulkar walked off the field to a thunderous applause and a standing ovation.

Tendulkar was middling almost everything this morning and played quite aggressively, putting away the bad balls and good ones too on occasions. However, Deonarine proved to be the man with the golden arm for the Windies.

Tendulkar's knock was studded with 12 boundaries and he added 144 runs with Cheteshwar Pujara for the third wicket.

Pujara reached his fourth Test fifty soon after Tendulkar brought up his 68th Test half-century with a trademark straight drive off Tino Best.

This was the 119th time that Tendulkar crossed the 50-run mark in Test cricket - the most by any batsman in Test cricket history.

The day's play started with Pujara and Tendulkar resuming the Indian first innings.
