MUMBAI: The BCCI on Thursday categorically denied reports that it was pressurizing Sachin Tendulkar to retire from cricket once he plays his 200th Test next month and it put the onus on the Master Blaster to take a call on his future.
TOI had reported first that the Board would let Tendulkar take a call on his career and BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel reiterated the point on Thursday.
"The news that BCCI wants Tendulkar to retire is absolutely absurd and rubbish. It will be the prerogative of Tendulkar. Board has not talked or asked him to resign (retire) and the Board is never going to do it because he is such a great player. We appreciate the media's concern about this and I request my friends in the press not to speculate," Patel said.
