Rayudu, Mohit set to make it to auctions

NEW DELHI: Middle-order batsman Ambati Rayudu and seamer Mohit Sharma are all set to make it to the auction list of the cash-rich Indian Premier League by virtue of having made their international debut in the recently concluded ODI series against Zimbabwe.

Rayudu has played four editions of IPL for the Mumbai Indians but being an uncapped player could fetch only Rs 30 lakh despite being one of the most sought-after domestic batsman.

The rule for getting enlisted in the auction is to play at least one international for India in the current period. Rayudu with four ODIs under his belt and Mohit, who was the find for the Chennai Super Kings in the last edition, played two games to make the cut.

Mohit with two seasons of first-class cricket came under Rs 20 lakh category as an uncapped domestic player.

While Mohit and Rayudu are now eligible to go under the hammer at next year's full-fledged auctions, uncapped Pervez Rasool will be hoping that he makes his senior team debut by that time in order to make the list.

If selected, Rasool can either get a chance to play in limited overs home series against Australia in October-November or get selected for the tour of South Africa or New Zealand at the end of this year or early next year.

In the season that went by, the other significant young Indian player to have made it to the auction list is Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and later Pune Warriors under domestic player category.
