Ravindra Jadeja inflicted fifth blow on the hosts by bowling out Vusi Sibanda after his 24-run knock.
Sean Williams was the fourth man to be dismissed. He was bowled out by pacer Jaydev Unadkat in the 15th over with scorecard reading 47. Williams failed to even get off the mark.
Jadeja gave double blow to Zimbabwe by sending back Hamilton Masakadza and skipper Brendan Taylor in quick succession, leaving the hosts reeling at 44/3 .
Taylor was trapped leg before by Jadeja who had sent back Hamilton Masakadza with his brilliant throw.
Masakadza scored 10, including a six, before getting rut out by the spinner.
Earlier, debutant Mohit Sharma claimed his first international victim the form of Sikandar Raza after a slow start by Zimbabwe.
Sharma struck in the seventh over to give Zimbabwe first blow at the score of 16 by getting Raza (7) caught behind.
Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bowl.
India, leading the five-match series 3-0, have rested Shikhar Dhawan and Vinay Kumar, giving debuts to Cheteshwar Pujara and Mohit Sharma.
Zimbabwe are unchanged for the match.
