Before stepping aside, Srinivasan had expressed an interest in representing the Indian board at the ICC but according to BCCI joint-secretary Anurag Thakur, Srinivasan hasn't expressed any interest since. Now, interim president Jagmohan Dalmiya is likely to attend the meeting.
"He (Srinivasan) hasn't expressed any desire to attend the ICC meeting so far. In the Chennai emergent working committee meeting, he had decided to step aside from day-to-day working of the board and there is no change in that," Thakur told TOI on Thursday, adding that Srinivasan also didn't attend the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting in Kuala Lumpur last Saturday. "I had attended the ACC meeting last Saturday," Thakur said. In the ACC, Srinivasan is the president while Thakur is a member of the executive board.
According to sources, interim chief Dalmiya may step in or assign a representative. "If Dalmiya is keeping well, he will surely attend the meeting. He has the experience to handle ICC matters," a source said. "If Dalmiya doesn't attend, he will have the authority to assign a representative."
With Srinivasan not attending the meeting, will India's change its stand on the Decision Review System (DRS) in the ICC meeting? That appears unlikely, since the new appointees in the board hinted that they still have to study the controversial issue. India has been steadfastly opposed to the use of DRS.
