The police claimed that it has transcripts which show Jain being in constant touch with Chandresh alias Chand.
According to the police, Jain was sponsoring travel and other activities of both the bookies as they provided him access to all the three accused Rajasthan Royals cricketers, S Sreesanth, Chandila and Ankeet Chavan. Chand and Manan are also alleged to have been supplying women to Sreesanth for which the money, according to Delhi Police, was also being sent by Jain.
Jain, originally a resident of Ahmedabad, was on the run for the last 40 days and sleuths had been tracking him since then. Police claimed his arrest may give fresh leads into the scandal that rocked IPL this year. Both Chand and Manan are out on bail and police may now ask them to appear for a fresh round of questioning, sources said.
Jain was remanded by a Delhi court to four-day custody of Delhi Police.
Jitendra is the 29th person to be arrested in the case and provisions of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) have been invoked against him.
