Stay away till probe is over: Shukla

NEW DELHI: Backing the three-member inquiry commission set up by BCCI to investigate IPL's spot-fixing scandal, the league's chairman Rajiv Shukla advised BCCI chief N Srinivasan that he should stay away till the investigations are on.

Talking to reporters after meeting BCCI vice-president Arun Jaitley, Shukla said that they have recommended under-fire Srinivasan that he should stay away from cricket affairs till the investigations are on and now it is up to him to decide on the matter.

Shukla added that the recommendations of the panel will come in effect straightaway.

BCCI's probe panel will consist of retired Justices T Jayaram Chouta and R Balasubramanian and BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale.

Meanwhile, the conspiracy of silence within the BCCI was broken when board heavyweight and Union power minister Jyotiraditya Scindia publicly said president Srinivasan should quit.

Scindia's hard-hitting statement came on a day when the other political worthies in BCCI - BJP's Jaitley and Congress' Shukla and CP Joshi - side-stepped the burning issue that's eroding public faith in cricket with terse "no comments".
