One such IPL 6 tie - between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on May 12 - has come under the Delhi police scanner.
Chandila, it has emerged, told bookies in advance that KKR would win this match, which eventually happened. Chandila had charged fixers Rs 30 lakh for this information. He had taken Rs 2 lakh in advance.
Delhi police have arrested two bookies of this ring. They are both from Delhi - a security manager, previously a bouncer, - Bhupinder Nagar of a Nehru Place club called Jynxx and Vicky Chowdhary - a bouncer at Agni Pub in Park Hotel.
They also identified and later arrested two main punters - Nitin Jain and Monu Sharma, who gave money. Nagar and Vicky knew Chandila well. Delhi Police have recorded conversations between Chandila and the bookies regarding this match, sources said.
The match was played in Ranchi on May 12. KKR won by four wickets. Police sources came out with these details a day after Nagar and Vicky were arrested.
They said Nagar was in touch with Chandila for the past seven-eight months as the player was a regular at his club. Vicky wanted to get in touch with some cricketers on May 4. "Nagar called Chandila on his mobile.
He was in Bangalore then and told the caller they'd meet in Delhi. After Chandila came to the city, Nagar took him to a Vasant Kunj night club called Billionaire. Here Chandila with Vicky met Nitin and Monu and talks for a deal started," an officer said.
