There is a huge demand for Srinivasan's resignation...
That is more in the media than in the BCCI at the moment. I'm the wrong person to comment on that. I'm not a rumour-sniffer. Secondly, I'm not worried about my future in the BCCI. No one within the board has unequivocally asked for his resignation.
Jyotiraditya Scindia has done that...
He is not a part of the working committee.
But he is part of the board (from the MP Cricket Association)...
Yes, but if he wants to assert, his assertion will only feature in the AGM. He won't feature in the working committee.
But he can feature in the special meeting...
Of course, he can. All 30 members can attend that meeting. But that move is not afloat at the moment.
Isn't Srinivasan's resignation in the best interest of cricket?
That's his personal decision. No one has put personal charges against him. No one has alleged that Srinivasan, individually, has done something wrong. Somebody from his family seems to have been associated... maybe or may not be... that will come out. No one has made a personal charge against Srinivasan about betting, match-fixing or assisting any illegal activity in cricket. Now, I'm talking on a human being to human being level... when he is convinced that he has done nothing wrong and that he has now at an unfortunate stage in his life when he has to face to all this, maybe it's very difficult for him to make the decision. One has to look at this from a human angle too.
He is known to use his powers ruthlessly...
Everyone has a certain way of working. He is a strong believer in whatever he stands for. We can't say right, wrong, good or bad about that. It's part of the game.
Why couldn't the members convince him to resign in Kolkata?
All did not meet in Kolkata. And the meeting was not official. I was not present for that dinner party. I went the next day for only the official meeting of the CLT20.
Why are people within the board not asking him to step down? Is it because they are looking at their own gains within the BCCI?
I have no aspirations. I didn't lobby for a single minute for the BCCI post. I got calls from Mr Srinivasan and Mr Shashank Manohar saying they want me as the BCCI treasurer. I thought over it and said that if I'm elected unopposed, I will take it.
Talking of conflict of interest, are you sure Srinivasan didn't influence decision on various IPL matters...
I'm not aware. But he is not involved in day-to-day matters.
