Kohli reached his half-century in 44 balls with the help of 6 boundaries right after Shahbaz Nadeem got Delhi Daredevils back into the game by dismissing Moises Henriques.
Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a bad start when Irfan Pathan and Siddarth Kaul struck for Delhi Daredevils to dismiss the openers Chris Gayle and Cheteshwar Pujara cheaply.
Pathan started the party when he gave the Daredevils a big breakthrough by dismissing the dangerous Gayle for a meagre score of 4.
The West Indian did hit Pathan for a four on the previous ball, but the Baroda pacer came back strongly to force Gayle to get an inside edge that knocked his middle stump.
Soon after, Kaul got the wicket of Pujara, who looked to be heading towards a big innings, when the Delhi pacer got the better of the Bangalore batsman's stumps.
However, Kohli and Henriques held their nerves to put up a swift 57- run partnership for the third wicket to get the Royal Challengers back into the game.
Nadeem then in his very last over proved instrumental in breaking the partnership as he took a brilliant catch off his own bowling to send Henriques (26) packing back to the dugout.
Earlier, Delhi Daredevils skipper David Warner won the toss and decided to bowl against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Warner is standing in as the captain of the Daredevils in this match in place of regular skipper Mahela Jayawardene, who is also playing the match.
Already knocked out of the tournament's playoff stage, Delhi Daredevils have just pride to play for but Royal Challengers Bangalore have a lot at stake.
Bangalore, who may still be recovering from a rude David Miller shock, cannot afford to take a step wrong as the fight for the play-offs is tight.
