IPL 6: Hyderabad aim to sign off in style

HYDERABAD: After securing the vital two points against Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad are keen on winding up their league engagements with a win when they lock horns with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at the RGIC Stadium on Sunday night.

With 18 points to their credit, the hosts are sitting pretty on fourth spot and the only threat for them is if Royal Challengers Bangalore pull off an unlikely win over two-time champions Chennai Super Kings in Bangalore on Saturday night.

"KKR are a very good side who unfortunately haven't been able to do that well this season. We don't underestimate their potential. We know that we have to play well and execute our plans. We are keen on finishing with a win," Sunrisers' coach Tom Moody said, adding: "We don't want to be too caught up with what the other teams are doing or not doing. Our focus is on playing our game and winning the match at hand."

After ambushing the Royals on Friday night, the hosts are a confident lot. "In every game, we have found someone who has put up his hand and delivered for the team. It augurs well for the team," Moody had remarked. Against the Royals, it was little-known Biplab Samantray who set up the 23-run with a half-century.

"Biplab hasn't had too many opportunities this season. But he has delivered when needed. This is his second good knock of the season and has come at a very crucial moment for us. Getting those runs under pressure just shows the character of the player. It was a fantastic knock by Biplab.

The turning point of the match was the partnership which Biplab strung with Vihari," Moody said.

The Knight Riders, on the other hand, have had a horrid season. The defending champions have looked rather ordinary on the field and they have nothing much to play for but only pride. The Gautam Gambhir-led side will have their task cut out as none of the teams, barring the Super Kings, have been able to acclimatize themselves to the conditions at the RGIC Stadium.

The Dale Steyn-led attack has proved more than handful for their rivals on a slowish wicket.

"The Sunrisers know the conditions very well and have been able to exploit it," Royals skipper Rahul Dravid had remarked after his team's loss.
