Gary may be in contention for India job

India' World Cup winning coach Gary Kirsten has decided to step down from the post of the South African coach. He had taken up the job after guiding India to their World Cup triumph in 2011 and hoped to rework the magic for South Africa. But that hasn't happened and now that he is free, the buzz is whether he will be considered for the India job yet again.

The current Indian coach Duncan Fletcher got a year's extension of his contract in March, but if things don't go too well for Dhoni's boys during the year-end South Africa tour, Kirsten may again become one of the frontrunners for the job.

Before India's home triumph against Australia, the team was doing poorly and there were speculations of the coach being removed from the job. But the 4-0 Aussie whitewash was a big relief for the Zimbabwean, who had a forgettable first two years.

Kirsten, on the other hand, was a huge favourite of the Indian players during his stint and many of the players felt he was one of the biggest factors behind India's success during that phase.

During his stint with South Africa, Kirsten failed to win the T20 World Cup, but he took the team to the No. 1 Test ranking and the authorities paid respect to the South African for his contribution.
