White, Perera guide Hyderabad to 161/6

NEW DELHI: Chasing 162-run target, Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered first blow when Sunrisers Hyderabad Thisara Perera scalped Mayank Agarwal in the 9th match of the IPL 6 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

Scorecard

Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a brisk start with 39-run opening stand by Agarwal and Chris Gayle.

Surprisingly, Agarwal dominated his explosive partner in the first five over as he smashed three fours and two sixes in his 29 runs knock.

Earlier, Cameron White (52) and Thisara Perera (40) helped Sunrisers Hyderabad post a stiff target of 162-run for Royal Challengers.

White notched up 32-ball fifty, smacking three fours and as many sixes to guide Hyderabad to 161/6 in 20 overs.

RP Singh gave RCB a sigh of relief by dismissing Perera, who played flamboyant knock of 40 runs studded with four huge sixes and a boundary.

The Sri Lankan southpaw shared 80-run stand for the fourth wicket with White to dent RCB's hopes of reducing the visitors to a modest total.

Cameron smashed a six over deep mid-wicket to complete 50-run stand in just 33 balls to lead visitors fightback.

Royal Challengers Bangalore's Muttiah Muralitharan and Murali Kartik struck to dismiss Parthiv Patel and Kumar Sangakkara respectively.

RCB's spinners dismissed the duo in quick succession to leave Sunrisers struggling at 62/3 in 10.2 overs.

Patel and Kumar Sangakkara steadied Hyderabad by adding 38-run stand for the second wicket after losing Akshath Reddy cheaply in the third over.

Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer RP Singh struck early to dismiss Reddy and give Sunrisers Hyderabad first blow.

Akshath looked to hit down the ground but got the inside half of his bat which went to mid on where Vinay Kumar took simple catch.

Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Kumar Sangakkara won the toss and opted to bat against RCB.

Royal Challengers have made two changes bringing in AB de Villiers in place of Tillakaratne Dilshan and RP Singh also made it to the playing eleven.

Hyderabad would be keen to extend their winning run after consecutive victories lifted them to the top spot in the points table.

They first defeated last year's laggards Pune Warriors by 22 runs in a low-scoring match and then posted a nail-biting win over RCB in the Super Over on Sunday on their home ground.
