Stuart Binny falls after blistering knock

NEW DELHI: Delhi Daredevils pacer Umesh Yadav ended Rajasthan Royals Stuart Binny's scintillating knock of 20-ball 40 in the fourth match of the IPL 6 at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi.

Scorecard

Rahul Dravid played a captain's knock as he slammed 40-ball fifty to lead Rajasthan Royals' innings.

Daredevils' Shahbaz Nadeem broke the crucial second wicket stand between Ajinkya Rahane and Dravid by dismissing the former. Rahane and Dravid set the good platform for the visitors with their 65-run stand.

Rajasthan Royals suffered the first blow as they lost Kushal Perera early after skipper Dravid opted to bat in their first match of the season.

Daredevils pacer Umesh Yadav struck in his first over to dismiss Perera, who smashed back-to-back boundaries before being caught by Irfan Pathan at extra cover.

Rajasthan Royals, who have looked awry since their inaugural edition feat, will look to kickstart their campaign on positive note.

Except for the 2008 edition, in which the Royals emerged surprise winners under the maverick leadership of the legendary Shane Warne, the Shilpa-Shetty co-owned team has always finished in the bottom-half of the table.

Out of the 10 meetings in the brief IPL history, the Daredevils have had the upper-hand against their Jaipur-based rivals, with six wins and four losses.

After a disappointing loss in the season-opener, the Daredevils would be hoping for a better batting performance in their first home match of the season.

Virender Sehwag missed the second game in a row as he is yet to recover from a bout of back spasm which had ruled him out of his side's opening game against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Dubbed as a top-heavy side, Delhi's middle-order failed to capitalise on a brisk start provided by Jayawardene and explosive Aussie batsman David Warner on a slow Eden Gardens' track against KKR.

Delhi would be keen to make amends for the crushing six-wicket defeat on Wednesday.

Teams:

Delhi Daredevils: Mahela Jayawardene (Capt.), Andre Russell, Ashish Nehra, David Warner, Irfan Pathan, Johan Botha, Manprit Juneja, Naman Ojha, Shahbaz Nadeem, Umesh Yadav and Unmukt Chand.

Rajasthan Royals: Rahul Dravid (Capt.), Ajinkya Rahane, Ashok Menaria, Brad Hodge, Kevon Cooper, Kushal Janith Perera, Rahul Shukla, S Sreesanth, Samual Badree, Siddharth Trivedi, Stuart Binny.
