The 22-year-old will turn out for Rajasthan this season and isn't short of confidence. Faulkner had his run-ins with the 'big man' Chris Gayle during West Indies' ODI series Down Under and feels he has a score to settle with the Bangalore opener in India. Faulkner spoke to TOI on Saturday.
Excerpts...
How the season is shaping up?
I'll definitely like the team to make the finals this year. We have assembled a very good squad with a good mix of Indian and foreign players.
Comparisons with Big Bash of Australia...
The conditions here are a lot different to that in Australia. India has different weather and pitch conditions but I have a game that can adapt to all conditions. The quality of cricket in Big Bash and this tournament is of a very high standard.
The batsman he is looking to target...
It will definitely be Gayle. I have got some rivalry going on with him. He'll try to hit me out of the ground and I'll try to pick up his wicket. Different teams have different plans but I am not sure bowling wide to him in these conditions is a good idea.
Playing under Warne...
Warne has been a massive support to my cricket both on and off the field. He left a legacy with Rajasthan. I spoke to him before joining the team and his advice was to back myself and my game.
Take on Shane Watson...
When he is batting and bowling Watson is the best player in the world. He can break the game open with both bat and ball.
