Need to improve my performance: Siddle

SYDNEY: Australian fast bowler Peter Siddle has said that he needed to lift his performance from the below-par start to the Test series against India, following a miserable record of two wickets at an average of 81.00.

Stating that there has been a lack of consistency in the team, Siddle said that because of that, the players are feeling the pressure and are therefore struggling to score, which he added, was also the case with him, News.com.au reports.

Siddle said that he and the team needed to build the pressure for long periods of time, adding that he had managed to do that in the past in other series, which has helped the team.

However, the Oz quick said that the Mohali pitch could spell double trouble for India as he expects the pitch to have more pace and bounce than those at Chennai and Hyderabad, and because he had debuted in Mohali in 2008.

Stating that he will have another chance to see the place where he had got his opportunity, Siddle said that he expected to gain a few more wickets in Mohali.

Siddle further said a drawn series would be a massive achievement for the Aussies, who are two-nil down after two matches. Back-up players Mitchell Johnson and Mitchell Starc would be vying for the third pacer's role alongside Siddle and James Pattinson if Australia opt against Maxwell.

The Australian team is returning to the nets in Mohali on Sunday after having a two-day break, the report added.
