The Indian Premier League started in 2008 and has slowly become the most anticipated tournament in the country and arguably in the world as well. However, the popularity which the league enjoyed in the first three seasons can now be seen to be dwindling downwards. The fourth season of the Indian Premier League took place in the wake of the ICC Cricket World Cup of 2011 which was immensely followed because of the victorious campaign of Indian Cricket Team in the tournament. This evidently brought in the existence of over exposure to cricket and fatigue related to it. This eventually got translated into poor following of that year’s ipl highlights.
The fifth season recovered to a certain extent when the stadiums were again busting to their seams and television ratings improved as well. However, with only one month remaining to the start of sixth ipl live score; it seems that there are still certain quarters of IPL which can be seen on the declining route. One of such dwindling aspects of IPL is apparel merchandise. The IPL merchandise is composed of knitted jerseys, wrist bands, caps and other team oriented accessories.
However, as per the reports the order of such apparel merchandise has shrunken by around 20 to 25 percent before ipl 2013. Mumbai, Tirupur and even Ludhiana based knitting firms have confirmed this fact. It remains to be seen whether the brand IPL contracts this decline or averts it after the completion of its sixth season on May 26.
