EPL: Chelsea move to third, Fulham beat Spurs

London, Mar 18: Dimitar Berbatov scored against his former side Tottenham as Fulha won 1-0 at white Hart Lane on Sunday.

Spurs chances of qualifying to the Champions League took a huge blow after Chelsea beat West Ham to take third place. Andre Villas-Boas' side have now lost three straight games for the first time under him and are four points above Arsenal having played an extra game.

Gareth Bale was not at his best but Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer made two crucial saves to deny Jermian Defoe. Berbatov scored at White Hart Lane for the first time since his leaving Spurs in 2008.

The Bulgarian striker, who left Spurs to join United for £30 million, easily beat his marker and his mis-kick flew past Hugo Lloris as Fulham won their first game at White Hart Lane in 10 years.

Chelsea 2-0 West Ham United

Frank Lampard scored his 200th Chelsea goal as the Blues climbed to third place with 2-0 win over his former club West Ham United at Stamford Bridge

Lampard moved closer to Bob Tambling's club-record of 202 goals after heading in Eden Hazard's cross in the 19th minute. Demba Ba was denied three times but Chelsea secured all three points after Hazard scored in the 50th minute.

Victory took Chelsea above Tottenham in the race for Champions League spots with a game in hand.

Wigan Athletic 2-1 Newcastle

Jean Beasejour's opening goal for relegation threatened Wigan side was cancelled out Davide Santon with just 18 minutes left but Latics striker Aroune Kone netted a close-range shot in the dying minutes to keep Wigan three points away from safety.

The game was marred by controversy after Callum McManaman was booked for a knee-high challenge on Massadio Haidara.

Sunderland 1-1 Norwich City

10-man Norwich City managed to hold on to a 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland.

Norwich were leading 1-0 early on with Wes Hoolahan's close range header. But their lucky break turned into a nightmare after keeper Mark Bunn was sent-off for handling the ball outside his area and five minutes before half-time Sebastian Bassong conceded a penalty for handling the ball in the area.

Craig Gardner converted his fourth from the spot as Sunderland tried to end their seven game losing streak, but Norwich held on and were denied a penalty in the 70th minute after Danny Rose handled the ball inside the area which was given as a free-kick.
