Katy Perry and Bollywood stars to sizzle in IPL's opening ceremony

THE INDIAN Premier League has become one of the most watched sporting events in India, generating huge TRPs. Family members love to sit in front of their TV and enjoy the fast-paced cricketing spectacle. It is a time when Indian housewives also enjoy watching the IPL on their respective idiot boxes, replacing their saas-bahu soaps. Bollywood production houses also do not release mega movies when the IPL is underway, as they might not generate good revenue.

This season, the IPL 5 opening ceremony is going to be a perfect blend of glamour and sports at the YMCA grounds, Chennai on April 3. As usual, the event is going to be a glitterati affair with top celebrities being lined up for the event. The biggest attractions for the opening night would the international star, Katy Perry, an American singer who blows away crowds with her amazing performance, as per the IPL website.

How can one forget our own bollywood stars, who have always made IPL a grand success with their presence on various grounds supporting teams of their liking. There are many Bollywood actors stars such as Juhi Chawla, Shahrukh Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Preity Zinta who own shares in one team or the other. The opening night would see some major stars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Prabhu Deva, will also perform during the opening night, reported Hindustan Times.

The night is not only going to be completely a film industry affair. Captains of different franchises representing IPL teams would also be present in the ceremony to take the MCC pledge, which has been a routine exercise since the inception of the IPL four years ago. For people who want to be a part of the mega event they have to shell out Rs 1500, which is considered to be the cheapest ticket for the night. These tickets would be the first ones to finish of the lot.

The night is expected to be of utmost quality with such entertainers present. The quality of cricket in IPL this season, which starts from April 4, should be of best quality. The past editions of the IPL created many unforgettable memories and the same should be the case this year.
