After a controversy filled performance in the previous two matches Rajasthan will be looking to break the jinx today. On the other hand, Kochi will be looking to shut their critics up and prove themselves in today’s match. Let’s have a look at the current form of both the teams:
Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan have always been a side which can spring a surprise at any stage of the tournament. It seems that they have earned this characteristic from Shane Warne who has been the mentor of the players from the beginning. They are placed at the fifth position currently and still have an outside chance of making into the playoffs. But going into the game their confidence will be quite low as they have faced three defeats in a row. Two against Chennai and one against the mighty Bangalore.
In the last encounter between Rajasthan and Kochi, Rajasthan was the one which came out superior and this is the thing which should give them the confidence going into the match. They have some of the biggest names like Shane Warne, Rahul Dravid, Shane Watson but most of them have failed to perform consistently. If they really want to make a mark in the remaining two matches then they will have to make sure that players like Watson and Ross Taylor perform. Players like Rahane have proved that they can play to consolidate the middle order.
On the bowling front Rajasthan have a formidable line up. Botha and Watson are amongst the most experienced bowlers along with Shane Warne.
Kochi Tuskers
Kochi Tuskers are almost out of the competition after they were beaten by Punjab in the last match. They have only managed to win 5 matches out of the 12 that they have played which has been a rather disappointing performance. They started off the tournament in a bad manner but picked up the pace after the first couple of games. But after losing the last couple of matches to Bangalore and Punjab their fate were sealed in this year’s IPL.
The Kochi team will be playing for pride and they will hope that some of the big guns in their team fire. Mahela Jayawardene and Brendon McCullum will be the two players that the team will be depending upon. On the bowling front Sreesanth will have to take wickets up front if they want to upset Rajasthan.
This is certainly the match of the day today as both teams look equal on paper and require a win desperately.
