The Supreme Court has appointed Vivek Priyadarshi, SP, CBI to probe the role of former IPL COO Sundar Raman in the 2013 spot-fixing and betting scam. Priyadarshi will replace BB Mishra, who has retired. Priyadarshi also headed the 2G probe scam.(Sundar Raman the Brain Behind Srinivasan)

Supreme Court has also directed that Priyadarshi can have his own team of officers and the government has to provide those officers. Earlier this year, the Supreme Court had ruled against BCCI officials with "conflict of interest." The court ruling stopped N. Srinivasan from seeking an additional term as BCCI president.(Court Slams Raman for Cover-up)

The Supreme Court Bench also appointed a three-member team under former Chief Justice of India Rajendra Mal Lodha to decide on the quantum of punishment to Gurunath Meiyappan, Raj Kundra and IPL franchises Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. The court also wanted the panel to probe the role of Sundar Raman.(Allegations Can't go Un-Probed: Court)

Gurunath is the son-in-law of N. Srinivasan. He was a high-profile team official of Chennai Super Kings till 2013. Kundra is a co-owner of Rajasthan Royals.

The panel's investigation team was headed by CBI officer Mishra, who had retired last month. The panel approached the top court to appoint Priyadarshi in Mishra's place.
