World Cup 2015: Bangladesh Fined for Slow Over-Rate in Win Over England

Bangladesh has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their Pool A match against England in World Cup 2015 at the Adelaide Oval on Monday.(Bangladesh Enter Quarters)


According to an official release by the ICC, Ranjan Madugalle, the match referee, imposed the fine after Mashrafe Mortaza's side was ruled to be two overs short of its target after time allowances were considered.(Scorecard | Highlights)


In accordance with Article 2.5.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel, which relates to minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.


As such, Mashrafe was fined 40 per cent of his match fee, while his players received 20 per cent fines.


The skipper pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction.
