BCCI faces legal threats from West Zone after the AGM held in Chennai

Chennai: Some West Zone units might have been contemplating moving court to challenge the BCCI elections but Shivlal Yadav, who chaired Monday's AGM, was unfazed as he said people are free to knock the doors of the judiciary.
Baroda Cricket Association representative Rakesh Parikh was disqualified from voting as two rival groups from the state turned up for the Annual General Meeting.
Samarjitsinh Gaekwad was allowed to participate in the proceedings and this led to resentment among rival members. (Dalmiya Takes Dig at Foe-Turned-Friends )
Asked about the reasons for the disqualification, Yadav said,"I can't tell you the reason. It is my prerogative." (Dalmiya's VIP Welcome Leaves Kids Gasping )
"After applying the rules and going through the respective files of the units, I decided who would vote," he said.
When told that the disqualified unit may go to the court, Yadav put up a brave front.
"As far as members of the western unit contesting it in court is concerned, they are free to do that. How can I stop them? They are free to contest any decision in court."
The new BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya said,"It is a victory for cleansing of cricket. It is a victory of cricket to which we are wedded."
The AGM also ratified N. Srinivasan's position as the ICC Chairman and Yadav it was a "unanimous decision".
Yadav pleaded ignorance when asked about new IPL Governing Council and Chairman.
"I don't know, it is not under my purview."
Yadav said both senior and junior national selection panels will continue till September.
Asked about the constitution of various sub-committees of the cricket body, Yadav said only the statuary committee has been appointed: The 'others will be constituted by the president in consultations with office bearers," he said.
