Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Friday struck a patient, unbeaten 45 to help India edge past West Indies in their World Cup Pool B encounter at Perth on Friday. India's fourth win on-the-trot helped Dhoni record his 59th ODI victory away from home as captain, beating Sourav Ganguly's record of 58 wins in 110 matches. Chasing 183 for a win, Dhoni scored his highest ODI score in seven innings to guide India to a four-wicket win and ensure their place in the quarter-finals. (Surviving West Indies scare good for Team India: MS Dhoni)
Dhoni, who has been struggling with his form, last posted a half-century -- 51 not out off 40 balls -- against West Indies at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi on October 11, 2014.
"It was a difficult wicket, even initially with the new ball. There was some variable bounce, it was doing a bit. It settled down later, there was some swing for the West Indies bowlers as well, with the new ball," said Dhoni, who average 53.21 in ODIs against the West Indies.
Known as finisher, Dhoni is the only batsman to have maintained an average of 100-plus - his tally being 2,208 runs (ave.105.14) in 80 matches (58 innings) - the highest by any player in successful chases (Minimum qualification: 2,000 runs).
