JP Duminy, South Africa's right-arm off-break bowler, spun a web around the Sri Lankan batsmen to pick up a crucial hat-trick in the first quarter-final clash in World Cup 2015. His efforts helped Proteas bowl out Sri Lanka for 133. (Match scorecard )

Duminy's three scalps were Angelo Mathews, Nuwan Kulasekara and debutant Tharindu Kaushal. This was the first hat-trick ever by a South Africa in World Cups. It was also the second of the ongoing tournament with England's Steven Finn claiming the first in match against Australia.

With Sri Lanka losing two early wickets, skipper AB de Villiers introduced Duminy in the 17th over to put further breaks on the the opposition's batting.

Duminy started with a disciplined line and tested the patience of the Lankan batsmen. In the 33rd over, Lanka skipper Mathews decided to go after Duminy, but in vain. Mathews attempted an uppish cross-batted shot off a flighted ball from Duminy and hit it straight to Faf du Plessis at mid-wicket.

In the first two balls off his next over, Duminy dismissed Kulasekara and Kaushal. First Kulasekara edged a flighted to the keeper and then Kaushal was trapped in front of the stumps. At this stage Sri Lanka were 116/8 in the 35th over. There was hardly any fight from here on as fellow spinner Imran Tahir claimed the final wicket to finish with four wickets and leave Sri Lanka in shambles at 133.
