The winner will take on defending champions India in the second semi-final at the Sydney Cricket Ground next Thursday.

Australia made one change from their last pool match against Scotland, bringing in fast bowler Josh Hazlewood in place of fellow paceman Pat Cummins on a hard, bouncy pitch.

Pakistan retained the same team that beat Ireland, once again ignoring leg-spinner Yasir Shah and veteran batsman Younis Khan.

Australia: David Warner, Aaron Finch, Steven Smith, Michael Clarke (capt), Glenn Maxwell, Shane Watson, James Faulkner, Brad Haddin (wkt), Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood

Pakistan: Ahmed Shehzad, Sarfraz Ahmed (wkt), Haris Sohail, Misbah-ul-Haq (capt), Umar Akmal, Sohaib Maqsood, Shahid Afridi, Wahab Riaz, Rahat Ali, Sohail Khan, Ehsan Adil

Umpires: Marais Erasmus (RSA) and Kumar Dharmasena (SRI)

TV umpire: Richard Illingworth (ENG)

Match referee: Ranjan Madugalle (SRI)

Weather: Partly cloudy. Maximum temperature 23 degrees.

Pitch report: Fast bowlers will enjoy the hard and bouncy drop-in pitch at the Adelaide Oval where India's 300-7 against Pakistan at the start of this tournament is the highest ODI total ever at the ground.
