Brisbane: An elated Ireland captain William Porterfield said after the victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in a Pool B World Cup contest here Wednesday that they have to keep their good performance going as they will face some tougher sides ahead.
Ireland managed to edge past the UAE's 278 with only four balls and two wickets in hand. (Ireland Want Four Wins, Says Gary Wilson)
"It was nice to get a win here. Games will start coming thicker and faster, just have to keep up the performances," Porterfield, who scored 37 runs, said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
The last few minutes of the game was a thriller as it went down to the wire with Ireland needing to score 10 of the last two overs.
They finally managed to do so, especially after the knocks of Gary Wilson (80) and Kevin O'Brien (50) who took Ireland on the brink of victory after reeling at 171 for five at one point of time.
"Closer than we'd have wanted, but we'll take a win any day of the week. It helped to have wickets in hand, especially when you have Gary Wilson and Kev (Kevin) coming in at the end," added the skipper.
