Yuvraj Singh was bought by the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League 2015 auctions for a sensational Rs 16 crore on Monday. Yuvraj was sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 14 crore in the 2014 auctions, making him the highest paid player in the glittering T20 tournament then. The Punjab all-rounder in a sense, broke his own record.

Yuvraj was relieved of his duties from RCB after a mediocre season in 2014. India'[s 2011 World Cup hero had to brace for more disappointment when he was ignored from the 2015 World Cup side, with the selectors preferring younger players. However, the massive amount he managed in the Monday auctions should give him a lot of confidence in his own game.

In other big buys, Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik was sold to Yuvraj's old franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore for an impressive Rs 10.5 crore. Karthik has never been able to cement his place in the Indian team, thanks to Mahendra Singh Dhoni's presence in the side. Karthik had been a key player for Mumbai Indians for several seasons.

India's Test opener Murali Vijay moved on from Delhi Daredevils to Kings XI Punjab with a staggering Rs 3 crore in the Indian Premier League auctions held in Bangalore. Vijay has been in great form in the longest format of the game, and was one of India's most consistent batsmen on tour tours of England and Australia.

Vijay had been a strong performer for Chennai Super Kings from 2008 to 2013 before he was released and lapped up the Daredevils last year. However, after they disbanded the side, Vijay was left out on the market open and he made the most of this opportunity, taking home a good price.

Among international cricketers, South Africa Test captain Hashim Amla went unsold while sacked England batsman Kevin Pietersen went to Sunrisers Hyderabad for his base price of Rs 2 crore. Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews was bought by Delhi for Rs 7.5 crore.
