If emphatic starts are half the battle won, Indian cricketers have definitely taken a giant leap towards yet another World Cup title. In the process, Men in Blue have now become the joint second-most successful ODI teams- with Pakistan. Their massive nine-wicket triumph against UAE on Saturday in Perth was their 440th ODI win - 83 fewer than Australia.

On Saturday in Perth, the Men in Blue played dominant cricket - much on expected lines. Asked to field first, pace and spin combined seamlessly to reduce UAE to 102 - the lowest total by any team against India in a World Cup match. The reply was led by Rohit Sharma (57*) who eased his side to a 9-wicket win - India's first World Cup triumph at the WACA. The team had lost the only game previously played by them at this venue - by 9 runs to England on February 22, 1992.

While their latest win helped India further consolidate their position at the top of Pool B, it was also their third win in as many matches against UAE.
