Australia's Shane Watson has found a new 'Indian' mantra to beat recurring injuries and sadness. The burly all-rounder, who has been going through the rigours of international cricket for more than a decade, has taken to yoga. (Michael Clarke Hits Fifty in Comeback Match )

"In my break during the off-season, I just knew that I needed to find another way to be able to either de-stress or just handle situations a bit better," Watson said, as reported by Sydney Morning Herald.

Watson has endured frustrating spells during his long-career when he has either been sidelined or played with a strained back that restricted him from performing his bowling duties. Even when he bowled, Watson often succumbed to injuries right after and was out of action which had repercussions on his rhythm and form. (Clarke Denies Rift With Australia Teammates )

Yoga has however, helped him recover better after bowling long spells in the Test series against India. It has also helped him keep a settled mind away from the field.

Watson was one of the Australian cricketers who was severely affected by Phillip Hughes' tragic demise. Yoga helped him handle the situation better.

"When such situations pop up, like the super sad one with Phil, with the grief and sadness that was happening in and around that, I also knew I had an outlet to handle it a little bit better," Watson said.

Watson has even vowed to practice yoga for 15-20 minutes followed by meditation and the chanting of a personal mantra with his eyes shut.

In two weeks' time, Watson will feature in his third World Cup, his first at home. Can a rejuvenated Watson power Australia's title surge?
