The new Team India jersey has been an instant hit among the players with Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli gloating on the style factor. Hours after the launch, the kit designed by a leading sports good manufacturer, garnered further attention when Deepika Padukone and Neha Dhupia modelled in the snazzy shirts. The two Bollywood icons posted pictures on Twitter with the trending #bleedblue.
Indian cricketers will sport the high-tech kit during the tri-nation series in Australia and the World Cup Down Under starting next month.
Deepika, who has been linked with 2011 World Cup star Yuvraj Singh in the past, is seen at several cricket matches in India. She has been a fan of IPL team, Royal Challengers Bangalore. Deepika comes from a sporting family - her father, Prakash Padukone, is regarded as one of India's greatest ever badminton players. The actor herself is an active shuttler.
"As a cricket fan and active athlete, I felt a great sense of pride when I first put on the national team jersey. Cricket is the biggest sport in India and the passion for the game is incredible across the country. Like every cricket fan, I look forward to great success for Team India in 2015," Deepika said.
Deepika is not the only one from Bollywood to associate with the Indian cricket team. Anushka Sharma has long been in the news for her well-publicised relationship with India's Test captain and ODI deputy, Virat Kohli.
Meanwhile, Neha Dhupia also joined the bandwagon, sporting the Indian jersey with a message of good luck for the Indian team.
