Melbourne: Australian pacer Patrick Cummins has backed explosive opener David Warner to carry his Test form into the one-dayers and prove his critics wrong by bringing Australia its fifth World Cup title. (Also read: Form guide of participating teams )

Warner has been in scintillating form in Tests as he scored 427 runs in the recent four-Test series against India at 53.37. In fact, over the past 12 months, he has scored 1209 runs at 67.16 with seven centuries in nine Tests.

However, in the 50-over format, Warner has played 11 ODIs, scoring 406 runs at 36.90 without scoring a century in the past year. But Cummins backed Warner to explode in the World Cup starting next month. (Full squads | Fixtures | Complete coverage )

"It's obviously a big tournament for him. I think you saw the form he was in this summer. And he's opening the batting, so he's going to get a chance to bat big every single innings he plays," Cummins told cricket.com.au.

"I know speaking to him he thinks he's got some things to prove in one-day cricket, so I expect some things from him."

While Warner is a certain starter at the top of the order, Cummins will have to fight it out with Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood for a place in the playing XI

Australia's 15-member squad consists of four specialist fast bowlers, plus medium pace allrounders Shane Watson, Mitchell Marsh and James Faulkner.

Cummins feels the fact that all the fast bowlers can actually bowl quick will work in Australia's favour in conditions that will suit express pace bowling.

"The good thing is all the quick bowlers are very quick bowlers. We can all run in and try and hit the deck and bowl quite quick. On Australian wickets, the WACA and a couple of other grounds that we play at are nice and fast for us and we can run in and try and bowl as fast as we can," said Cummins.

"I think that's going to be our biggest strength in the bowling, having three or four quick guys in the side."

Cummins played in the 2012 World T20 in Sri Lanka, but this will be his first time in the 50-over showpiece.
