A little more than a year ago - on November 16 -- Sachin Tendulkar promised his family all of his precious time. The legendary cricketer bid adieu to cricket on that day and in his farewell speech, his wife and two children found a special mention. " I promise you that the next 16 years or even beyond that, everything is for you." A year on, the record-shattering cricketer continues to stay true to his promise and was seen vacationing with family in the scenic hills of Mussoorie on Tuesday.

Tendulkar had taken his family to Mussoorie - also known as the queen of hills - right after playing in his final Test in front of teary-eyed fans at Wankhede. While he has led an active life off the field since, Tendulkar has managed much more time for his family than he ever could during his career stretching over two decades. On Wednesday, a relaxed-looing Tendulkar posted the following image on his official Facebook page - looking at ease despite the cold conditions in northern India currently. Tendulkar has made a trip to Mussoorie in each of the last three years. While he prefers to keep away from the bustle of major tourists attractions in the hill resort, his wife Anjali, son Arjun and daughter Sarah take long walks around scenic routes, according to local media reports. Life off the field though has not been one big holiday however. Tendulkar - already a Rajya Sabha MP - was presented with the Bharat Ratna on February 4 and released his autobiography later in the year. He has also joined several social causes since his retirement - including Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Clean India campaign.

Tendulkar has also called for development of every sport in the country and bought a stake in Kerala Blasters -- the team which finished second in the inaugural Indian Super League football tournament. He - along with Sourav Ganguly - have pledged to continue helping the development of Indian sports.

Cricket though will always remain his first and biggest love - a fact re-emphasised by the International Cricket Council which named him as the World Cup 2015 ambassador .
